JOHN STONE has resided in Woodland since 1994 and has been the owner of JP Stone Contractors since that time. Several prestigious NW landscape firms have also employed him where he specialized in high end residential work and special projects including the installation of the ASLA National Convention in 1998, which was a grand National ACLA Award Winner; and the landscaping of the Portland Classical Chinese Garden, also a national award winner. Previously, Mr. Stone Owned his own contracting company on the East Coast specializing in hardware construction and served many high end residential clients as well as numerous corporate accounts including Prudential Insurance, Peat Marwich, Bankers Trust, Unilock, AT&T, and Laura Ashley.
Mr. Stone's education includes a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture with honors form Rutgers University and an Associates Degree with honors in Forestry from Paul Smiths College. He also served in the UA Army as a military Policeman.
Further accomplishments include two years as Portland chapter president of the OCLA during which he was instrumental in implementing an $80,000.00 in kind landscape donation to the Oregon Humane Society and landscape installation at the Simon Benson House at Portland State University. Mr. Stone also served as president of the NJ ASLA for tow-year terms during which time professional licensure was achieved as well as tripling in membership, establishment of a newsletter and an annual convention.
